Court ruled
A federal judge found he admitted lying, more than once, about why he threw tear gas in Chicago.
Judge Sara Ellis wrote that “Bovino admitted in his deposition that he lied multiple times about the events that occurred in Little Village that prompted him to throw tear gas at protesters.” He and DHS had said a rock hit him first; he later admitted the rock hit him after he threw the gas. He says his agents’ force has been “more than exemplary.”

He said Alex Pretti wanted to “massacre law enforcement.” PolitiFact found the videos show Pretti holding a phone, not a gun.
PolitiFact found the videos show Pretti holding a cellphone, not pointing a gun, and that Bovino gave no evidence when asked for it. Pretti had a permit to carry a handgun, and an officer appears to take one from him after he was tackled.
